Start a Business in Missouri
NerdWallet considers business climate and local economic health
San Francisco, CA (October 6, 2015) – NerdWallet, a consumer finance website, has conducted a study to find the best places in Missouri to start a business – and Brentwood ranked third.
To determine this ranking, NerdWallet examined 117 places in Missouri with populations of 5,000 or more and analyzed the following factors:
· Business climate
o Average revenue of businesses
o Percentage of businesses with paid employees
o Businesses per 100 people
· Local economic health
o Median annual income
o Median monthly housing costs
o Unemployment rate
At only 1.5 square miles, Brentwood is the smallest city in the top 10 by population, with just over 8,000 residents. But its daytime population swells to nearly triple that number due to employment at retail outlets and companies. Among the 117 places analyzed, Brentwood has the third-highest percentage of businesses with paid employees. The city also has nearly 19 businesses per 100 people. These factors help create a stable and strong business environment in Brentwood, encouraging aspiring entrepreneurs to make the city their new business’s home.
Other cities in the top 10 include Clayton and Sunset Hills.
