Job Summary
Miriam Switching Post is seeking an experienced full time Assistant Manager who is willing to work hard and grow with the organization. The Assistant Manager will report directly to the Switching Post Manager and will be responsible for taking on a variety of tasks involved in the overall operation of the store.
On days the Manger is not present, the Assistant Manager will be the key-holder/person in charge, will oversee all retail operations, and will assure proper and timely opening and closing of Miriam Switching Post, including close out of the register.

Through its three programs, Miriam School, Miriam Academy and Miriam Learning Center, Miriam reaches over 1000 students annually through its comprehensive services. Miriam helps identify a child's needs and provide solutions. The fundraising mission of Miriam Switching Post sets it apart from many other retail stores and creates an environment in which both customers and sales staff are aware of the purpose of their endeavors. The 107-year reputation of the Miriam Foundation's philanthropic record in the St. Louis community is one of the strongest assets to the Miriam Switching Post.

Responsibilities
- Assists the Manager with providing a strong leadership presence to volunteers and paid employees and ensures a focus on the mission
- Creates a welcoming environment for the customers and donors by greeting and assisting, as well as quickly responding to their inquiries and needs
- Demonstrates desired behaviors for staff including driving revenue, merchandising abilities, handling difficult and/or complicated sales, inventory, and follow-up with customers.
- Screens donation pick-up request phone calls and write requests
- Assists in maintaining an online presence via social media; Facebook, Twitter & Instagram accounts
- Maintains positive relations with volunteers, employees, customers and donors in a friendly environment
- Enforces all company policies and procedures consistently
- Provides support to donor software
- Other duties as agreed upon by the Manager and Volunteer Chairman
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in retail/resale operations and/or non-profit preferred
- Previous management or leadership role experience required
- Be dedicated to customer satisfaction and a great customer experience
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of social media; Facebook, Twitter & Instagram accounts
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Available days with a rotating schedule to include some weekends and evenings as job duties demand

Reports To: Switching Post Donations Manager
Classification: Part Time (maximum of 29 hours per week), Non-exempt, Hourly
JOB SUMMARY
Miriam Switching Post is looking for a team player to fill the position of Dock/Mover/Stock Person. The Donations Manager and Dock/Mover/Stock Person are responsible for ensuring timely pick up and/or delivery of donations to predetermined customers on specific routes, loading and unloading items in store and in customers' homes, and providing exceptional customer service to our donors and customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Loading and unloading of items by hand or by use of proper tools and equipment from the previous location to its new designated area includes in store and in customers' homes
- Ensures items are properly stacked and secured inside the delivery truck to prevent damage during shipment
- Assists the customer in moving the purchased or donated item(s) to its appropriate area
- Assures proper lifting techniques are followed to prevent injury and damaging items
- Other duties as agreed upon by the Miriam Switching Post Manager, Assistant Manager and/or Donations Manager
- High school diploma is required
- Possess a positive and professional attitude
- Must be detail oriented and pay attention to the conditions and surroundings of their work
- Ability to follow verbal instructions
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
- Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- Reliable transportation is required

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK CONDITIONS
The Dock/Mover/Stock Person will be able to work a maximum of 29 hours per week. Store hours are Monday-Saturday 10AM-4PM, extended hours until 7PM on Wednesday, and Sunday noon-4PM. The schedule will be set by the Donations Manager; hours per week may vary depending on the demand of the customers.
